Introduction & Scope

Welcome to StatMunshi ("the App", "we", "us", or "our"). StatMunshi is a free Android application developed and operated by StatMunshi, an independent developer based in India. The App is available on the Google Play Store under the package name com.statmunshi.app.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the StatMunshi Android application. It applies to all users of the App anywhere in the world, including users in India subject to the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

The App is designed specifically for cricket fans who wish to explore Indian Premier League (IPL) statistics, receive AI-powered cricket analysis, follow live scores, participate in quizzes, play the player guessing game, and use the win probability calculator. The App does not offer real-money gaming, gambling, wagering, or any financial transactions.

By installing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please uninstall and discontinue use of the App.

Information We Collect

2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

StatMunshi uses AsyncStorage (React Native's local device storage mechanism, equivalent to localStorage) solely to cache IPL cricket statistics data on your device. This caching improves app performance and reduces repeated network calls for static data.

• This data consists exclusively of cricket statistics (match scores, player stats, team records, etc.)
• This cached data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party
• No personal or identifying information is included in this cached data
• You may clear this cached data at any time by clearing the App's storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the App

2.2 AI Query Text

When you use the AI Analysis feature, the text of your cricket-related query is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. This query text:

• Contains only the cricket question you choose to type
• Does not include your name, device ID, location, or any identifying information
• Is not stored by StatMunshi on any server
• Is processed by Anthropic in accordance with their privacy policy (see Section 5)

2.3 Live Score API Requests

When you access live scores, the App makes HTTP requests to a third-party cricket data API. These requests may include technical information transmitted as part of standard HTTP protocols (such as your device's IP address visible to the API provider's servers). StatMunshi does not control, log, or store this information. Refer to your chosen internet connection provider's and the API provider's privacy policies for details.

How We Use Information

Because StatMunshi does not collect personal information, there is no personal data for us to use, sell, or share. The following describes how we use the limited technical interactions that occur during App use:

• Cricket statistics cache — stored locally on your device solely to provide faster app performance. Not accessible to us.
• AI query text — forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API solely to generate a cricket analysis response shown to you in the App. We do not retain this text.
• Live score requests — made to fetch real-time match data solely to display scores within the App.

We do not use any information for: advertising, profiling, marketing, user tracking, analytics, machine learning model training by us, or any purpose other than delivering the core cricket features of the App.

Data Storage & Security

StatMunshi does not operate any backend servers, databases, or cloud infrastructure that stores user data. All App data resides:

• On your device — cricket statistics cache stored in AsyncStorage, protected by your device's operating system security and any screen lock you have configured
• Transiently in transit — AI queries and live score requests are sent over HTTPS (TLS-encrypted connections) and are not retained by us

Since we do not collect or store personal data on any server, the risk of a data breach affecting your personal information through StatMunshi is effectively nil. The security of locally cached cricket statistics data depends on your device's own security measures (screen lock, encryption, etc.).

Third-Party Services

StatMunshi integrates with the following third-party services. We do not control these services and are not responsible for their data practices. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

5.1 Anthropic Claude AI (AI Analysis Feature)

• Provider: Anthropic, PBC, 548 Market St PMB 90375, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA
• Purpose: Generating cricket analysis responses to user-typed queries
• Data sent: The text of your cricket question only — no personal identifiers are included by StatMunshi

5.2 Live Score Data Provider

• Purpose: Providing real-time IPL match scores and ball-by-ball data
• Data sent: Standard HTTP request headers as required by the API (may include IP address visible to the API provider)
• StatMunshi does not share any personal user data with any live score data provider

5.3 Cricsheet.org (Historical Data Source)

• Provider: Cricsheet (cricsheet.org)
• Purpose: Source of ball-by-ball historical IPL match data used to build the in-app statistics
• Licence: Open Data Commons Attribution Licence (ODC-BY 1.0)
• This is a data source used during app development. No user data is sent to Cricsheet at runtime

5.4 Services We Do NOT Use

Children's Privacy

StatMunshi is rated for users aged 13 and older on the Google Play Store. The App does not knowingly collect, solicit, or use personal information from children under the age of 13.

In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable Indian regulations including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and the IT Rules 2021:

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13
• We do not target our App to children under 13
• The App does not contain age-inappropriate content (no violence, adult content, gambling, or real-money gaming)
• Since the App requires no registration and collects no personal data from any user, there is no mechanism by which a child's personal data could be specifically collected
• If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@statmunshi.in and we will take prompt action

If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, we encourage you to use the App with awareness of this Privacy Policy and, where appropriate, with parental guidance.

Data Retention

Since StatMunshi does not collect or store personal data on any server operated by us, there is no personal data retention period to define.

• Device cache (cricket stats): Retained locally on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. You control this entirely.
• AI query text: Not retained by StatMunshi. Anthropic's retention of API inputs is governed by their privacy policy and API usage terms.
• Live score requests: Not retained by StatMunshi. The respective API provider may retain standard server logs per their own policies.

Your Rights

Under applicable Indian law (IT Act 2000, IT Rules 2021) and internationally recognised data privacy principles, you have the right to:

• Access — Request information about any data we hold about you
• Correction — Request correction of any inaccurate data
• Deletion — Request deletion of your data
• Portability — Request a copy of your data in a usable format
• Objection — Object to the processing of your data
• Withdrawal of consent — Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

As StatMunshi does not collect or process any personal data, exercising these rights in practice means: you may uninstall the App at any time to remove the locally cached cricket statistics from your device, and you may contact us to confirm that we hold no personal data about you (which we will confirm).

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

StatMunshi is an Android application and does not use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, device fingerprinting, or any other tracking technologies.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, applicable law, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Post the revised policy at https://statmunshi.in/privacy
• Update the policy link in the Google Play Store listing

We may also notify users of significant changes through an in-app notice. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised policy, please uninstall the App.

We will not make changes that reduce your privacy rights without providing reasonable notice and, where required by law, obtaining your consent.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, including but not limited to:

• The Information Technology Act, 2000 (as amended)
• The Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011
• The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021
• The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) — to the extent in force and applicable

Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.

For users outside India, including users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California (USA), please note that by using the App you are interacting with a service based in India. We do not target or specifically direct the App at users outside India, and this App is designed primarily for cricket fans in India.
